FAQs

We’re sorry for the wait! Because your coffee is roasted fresh, it may take a few business days to be prepared and shipped. Once it’s on the way, you’ll receive an email with tracking information.

Occasionally, USPS tracking can take a little time to update—even when your package is already moving. If your coffee hasn’t arrived within 5 business days of the expected delivery date or if you do not have any updates on the tracking information, please reach out, and we’ll be happy to help!

There are a few ways you can login:

  1. Use your email and password on file
  2. We can send a magic link directly to your email address that your account is under. Once you receive the email, the custom magic link will log you in.
  3. Sign in via your Shop Pay.

Need more assistance? You can select Forgot Password, and we'll send an email to create a new one.

Great question! You can update your Coffee Profile at any time in your Settings. You can update your preferred roast levels (light, medium-light medium, medium-dark, dark, or a mix), and we’ll match coffees that fit. If you ever spot a specific coffee you’d love to try, add it to your Queue to guarantee it ships next.

Some roasters have switched from 12 oz bags to bags ranging from 10 oz to 12 oz due to rising coffee bean costs. However, we strive to offer a variety of sizes from our roasters to enhance your choices. On the specific PDP you'll see the breakdown of cost per ounce so there are no hidden margins (like some other services). If you prefer the bag size, please let us know, and we can adjust your selections accordingly.

No problem—you have full control! You can reschedule shipments directly from your account under your Queue Dashboard. Just choose the next date you’d like coffee to arrive. If a coffee has already been charged and shipped, it's too late to cancel that specific order. You can push our your following coffee in your Queue Dashboard!

You’ll receive a tracking email as soon as your coffee ships. Sometimes USPS doesn’t update scans right away, but your coffee is still on its way. If your order hasn’t arrived within 5 business days of shipping, please reach back out and I’ll make it right.

Currently, indefinite pauses are not available for Misto subscriptions. The subscription can be postponed to a certain date, but for indefinite stops, cancellation is recommended. If you wish to stop receiving coffee for an extended period, log into your account settings and select 'Cancel Subscription' and follow the prompt to end your subscription. Any remaining balance can be refunded or retained for future use, depending on your preference.

If you have multiple subscriptions and wish to consolidate shipment credits onto one subscription, please contact our support team. We can assist in transferring credits so you can manage them under a single active subscription. Please ensure to provide your subscription details and new claim code to help us process your request efficiently.

My Subscription

Absolutely! You can add as many subscriptions as you'd like to your Misto account—it’s a great way to customize your coffee setup. Here’s when having more than one subscription comes in handy:

  • You want coffee delivered more frequently (like every 2 days or faster—go you!)

  • You like switching it up between different roast levels, origins, or grind types

  • You want both regular and decaf on deck

  • You’re sending coffee to more than one address

Setting up another subscription is easy: just log into your account and start a new one here. Want a hand customizing preferences or changing shipment frequency? Email us anytime at [email protected]—we’re happy to help.

We’re happy to refund any unshipped coffees from your order or gift subscription—just reach out and we’ll take care of it.

Since our coffees are roasted fresh to order and made just for you, we’re unable to offer refunds or exchanges once a shipment is on its way. But don’t worry—we’re here to help if something goes wrong.

If your order arrives damaged or not quite right, email us at [email protected]. We’ll make it right with a replacement, store credit, or discount whenever we can.

Rating your coffee is the best way to help us make sure every shipment is tailored to your taste.

You can leave a review for every coffee you receive — it’s quick, easy, and helps us understand what you’re loving (or not loving).

Here’s how to review your coffee:

  1. Head to the Shipped Coffee tab in your account.

  2. Find the coffee you want to review — you’ll see the ship date, tracking info, and 5 stars next to each one

  3. Click the stars to open a review pop-up

  4. Rate the coffee and leave any notes you'd like

That’s it! Your feedback helps us get even better at matching you with the perfect beans.

Think of your Queue like a playlist—but for coffee. It lets you choose what’s coming next and arrange future coffees in the order you’d like to receive them.

To manage your queue:

  1. Log in to your Misto dashboard.
  2. Select the Queue tab to view coffees listed in the order they'll ship.
  3. Choose Browse to explore available options and add coffees that catch your eye.
  4. Drag and drop coffees to rearrange them, or remove anything you’re no longer excited about.

The first coffee in your queue is your next selection, and its card will display the date your next order is scheduled to be sent.

Any coffee you select that is outside of your max price, you'll simply be charged for that coffee accordingly. We will never charge/order a coffee above your max price unless you request specifically in your Queue.

Either way, great coffee is coming your way.

There will always be a few coffes in your Queue that will be sscheduled to go out on your frequency. If you’d like to choose a different coffee, rearrange your Queue or reschedule your shipment, make your changes as soon as possible through your Misto dashboard.

The amount of time available may vary depending on your scheduled ship date and the roaster’s processing timeline. Once an order has begun processing or has shipped, we’re unable to make changes.

Your change window may be shorter if:

  • It’s your first shipment
  • You moved your ship date forward
  • You selected Ship Now
  • You changed the first coffee in your Brew Queue
  • A payment issue delayed your order
  • Your selected coffee sold out and needed to be replaced

Keep an eye out for your upcoming shipment email—that’s your cue to make any final changes!

Easy! Just log in to your dashboard anytime to tweak your subscription settings.

What can you change? Pretty much everything—set your max price, adjust your shipping frequency, pick your favorite roast level, choose your preferred coffee type, and even update your flavor preferences.

Select Account Toggle, and you’ll also find quick links to update your shipping address and payment info—all in one cozy spot.

Ready to customize your coffee experience? Dive in and make it yours!

Manage your subscription settings here.

We hate goodbyes, but you can cancel your subscription in your Account settings.

Simply, locate your subscription and click CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION. You will be prompted to complete the steps to cancel your subscription successfully.

If there is a chance you will come back in the future, we recommend delaying your next shipment, in your Dashboard instead!

We don't have the functionality built yet to receive the same coffee for every shipment. However,  you can very easily set this up by manually adding the coffee you'd like to your Queue.

Simply go to your Brew Queue, click "Add a Coffee", search for the coffee you would like, and click Add to Queue. Do this as many times as you'd like to queue up your desired coffee!

Coffee & Taste

You're not alone if you're looking for a smoother, gentler cup. Acidity in coffee is influenced by everything from roast level to region to how it's brewed. Here's how to lean low-acid with your beans:

Look for:

  • Lower elevation origins like Indonesia (Sumatra), Brazil, Mexico, or India

  • Flavor notes that are chocolatey, nutty, earthy, or full-bodied

  • Processing methods like natural, honey, or semi-washed

  • Darker roasts (they're typically lower in acidity)

  • Blends, which are often crafted for balance and a smooth finish

Other pro tips:

  • Cold brew it: Brewing with cold water can reduce acidity by up to 70%! You can even heat it up afterward if you prefer a hot cup.

  • Try decaf: Decaf coffees are often lower in acidity and easier on the stomach.

  • Don't sip on an empty stomach: Trust us, your belly will thank you.

Need help finding a low-acid coffee that still fits your taste? Our curators can help! Email us anytime at [email protected].

That depends a bit on how strong you like your brew—but here’s the general idea:

  • 12 oz bag = ~24 cups

  • 11 oz bag = ~22 cups

  • 10 oz bag = ~20 cups

We’re talking 8 oz cups using the Specialty Coffee Association's recommended ratio: about 13.3g (or 0.5 oz) of coffee per cup.

Prefer a bolder brew? You might get fewer cups. Like it mellow? You’ll stretch it a little farther.

We get it—roast levels can be confusing. Every roaster has their own definition of what counts as “light,” “medium,” or “dark.” That means one roaster’s light might look a lot like another’s medium-dark.

To clarify things for you, we developed our own roast level system. It’s based on taste and science (yep, we’re nerds about it) so we can be consistent across all our roasters and help you get coffee that truly matches your vibe.

Here’s how it works:

We taste and measure every new coffee using a colorimeter—a tool that uses near-infrared light to assess the roast level of both whole and ground beans. We combine that data with flavor notes to place each coffee on our roast spectrum:

  • Light: Pale brown, no oil, dry surface

  • Medium Light: Slightly darker, still dry

  • Medium: Solid brown, may show a hint of oil

  • Medium Dark: Rich brown, oils just beginning to show

  • Dark: Deep brown with a shiny, oily surface

  • Very Dark: Almost black and very oily

If your coffee came from your Coffee Profile, your curator picked something to match your preferences. Still not quite right? We can always fine-tune your roast level, even down to the in-between shades. Just email us at [email protected], and we’ll help you dial in your preferences even further!

It really comes down to what you value most in your coffee routine.

If flavor is your #1 priority and you have a burr grinder at home, we recommend going with whole bean. Grinding fresh right before you brew locks in the best flavor and aroma.

No burr grinder? You're not alone. A lot of folks use blade grinders, but here's the deal:
Blade grinders don't grind evenly — they chop, which can lead to over- or under-extracted coffee (aka sour, bitter, or just plain off).

That's why we offer freshly ground coffee from our roasters, using commercial-grade burr grinders. It's ground just right for your brew method and delivers a reliably delicious cup, even if you don't have fancy gear at home.

Bottom line:

  • Have a burr grinder? Go with whole bean.

  • Don't have one? Pre-ground coffee from the roaster will likely taste better than coffee ground at home with a blade grinder.

Still not sure? You can always switch between whole bean and ground coffee in your subscription preferences.

Yes — ground coffee starts to lose its aromatic magic faster than whole beans. But freshness isn’t the only thing that matters when it comes to flavor.

Here’s the twist: If coffee isn’t ground evenly (especially with a blade grinder), you’ll likely get an uneven brew, which can taste sour, bitter, or just kinda off, even if it’s freshly ground.

That’s why our roasters use commercial burr grinders to dial in the perfect grind size for your brew method. It ensures a consistent extraction and a smoother, more balanced cup.

So while ground coffee loses aroma faster than whole beans, having it ground professionally and evenly can actually lead to a better-tasting brew — especially if you don’t own a burr grinder.

Tasting notes are the subtle flavors you might pick up in your cup, like citrus, caramel, or chocolate, and they’re one of the best ways to figure out which coffees you truly love.

Quick heads up: None of our coffees are flavored — those notes you see on the bag come naturally from the bean itself. The final flavor is shaped by where the coffee was grown and how the roaster brought out its unique character.

Over time, learning to spot tasting notes can help you fine-tune your preferences and explore new coffees with more confidence.

If you have a drip/auto coffee machine or espresso machine at home: We recommend using cleaning products made by Urnex. They are one of the most trusted brands in the coffee industry to help keep professional equipment clean. They also make great products for home use as well.

This cleaning powder will get your drip machine clean and as good as new in no time.

If you use a Chemex, V-60, AeroPress or any other manual brewing device: Hand wash unless otherwise recommended by each manufacturer.

Coffee tasting notes are a super helpful way to figure out which coffees you love most.

You might notice hints like citrus, caramel, or chocolate on a bag of coffee—those aren't added flavors, but natural characteristics that come from where the coffee is grown, how it's processed, and how the roaster brings out its best qualities.

Over time, paying attention to tasting notes can help you uncover what you’re really into (or not into) when it comes to coffee.

None of the coffees we offer are artificially flavored—just pure coffee, roasted to shine.

Want to build your coffee tasting vocabulary? This blog post is a great place to start.

Fresh is best, but only if it’s done right.

We always recommend using a burr grinder and grinding your coffee fresh before each brew. Burr grinders create a consistent grind size, which leads to a balanced and delicious cup.

But we get it—not everyone has one. So, if you have to choose between using a blade grinder or grinding in advance with the right grind setting for your brew method, go with grinding in advance.

Blade grinders tend to chop coffee unevenly, leaving a mix of fine dust and big chunks. This results in inconsistent extraction and can lead to sour or bitter flavors in your cup.

In our experience, pre-ground coffee tailored to your brew method often tastes better than freshly ground coffee from a blade grinder.

Yes, grinding does start the clock on freshness. Once coffee is ground, it begins to lose some of the vibrant aromatics that make each cup special.

However, if the grind isn’t even or suited to your brewing method, your coffee might be technically fresher but can end up tasting bitter, sour, or just off.

Not everyone owns a burr grinder, and blade grinders often produce uneven grinds. That’s why many of our customers prefer to receive freshly ground coffee from our partner roasters, who use commercial-grade burr grinders to achieve the ideal consistency for your brew method.

In other words, while grinding fresh is important, grinding right is even more crucial.

There are a few main types of coffee you’ll see when browsing Misto Here’s a quick breakdown:

Blends
Blends are coffees sourced from multiple locations and combined to create a balanced, consistent flavor profile. They're often roasted to a medium or dark level, making them approachable and versatile for a variety of brew methods.

Single Origin
These coffees come from one specific region, farm, or lot. They’re typically roasted light to medium to showcase the unique flavors of their origin—think bright, fruity, or floral notes that shine through in the cup.

Espresso
Espresso coffees are roasted or blended with espresso in mind. That doesn’t mean you can’t brew them with other methods—they’re just especially tasty when prepared as a shot. Expect rich, syrupy, and bold profiles.

Want help picking your favorite type? Take our quiz to get matched with coffee you'll love.

Nope — we’ve already thought of that!
By default, we exclude any roasters located within 100 miles of your shipping address. That way, you get to explore coffees from all over the country, not just down the street.

Prefer to include your local roasters in the mix? Totally doable. Just shoot us a quick email at [email protected] and we’ll happily add them back in.

Shipments & Deliveries

We did—proudly—for over a decade! Since launching in 2012, MistoBox has offered international shipping so coffee lovers around the world could enjoy fresh-roasted beans from our amazing U.S. roasters.

Why did you stop shipping internationally?

We were faced with a significant increase in shipping issues—delays, lost packages, and stuck deliveries affected more than 50% of our international orders. These problems were impacting both the customer experience and coffee quality, which we’re not okay with.

Will international shipping return?

That’s the goal! We’ve hit pause for now as we search for a more reliable and sustainable solution. Our top priority is delivering great coffee—fresh and on time—and we want to make sure we can meet that promise before resuming international service.

Have suggestions?

We’d love to hear them! If you have ideas, feedback, or possible solutions to our international shipping challenge, feel free to reach out.

With our recent website glow-up, we’re still putting the finishing touches on migrating your full order history to your account. But don’t worry—it’s all still safe and sound behind the scenes.

You’ll see past orders and ratings show up again soon. In the meantime, if you need tracking info, want to revisit a past favorite, or just have questions, we’ve got you. Email us at [email protected], and our team will get right on it.

Thanks for bearing with us as we get everything settled!

    2. Select Settings.
    3. Find Frequency under your coffee preferences.

You can check the shipping date for your next coffee in your Queue. You can also check your orders that are IN PROCESS, SHIPPED, and DELIVERED in your "History."

Want to try a different coffee or receive your shipment later? You can reschedule your delivery or swap your coffee in the Queue — but keep in mind, changes aren’t possible once your coffee has been ordered with the Roaster and considered "In Process."

You bet. As soon as your coffee’s on its way, we’ll email you the tracking number. Once the label is created, you can also find tracking info in your History.

Just a heads-up: USPS tracking kicks in once they scan the package. This can take a day or two after roasting. It's totally normal, so just hang tight!

Sometimes USPS gets a little ahead of itself—marking a package as delivered before it actually shows up, or skipping tracking updates altogether. Annoying? Yes. Permanent? Usually not.

Most of the time, your coffee is just around the corner and will arrive within a day or two.

If it’s been a while or things seem off, don’t stress—we’ve got you.
Reach out to your curator or email us at [email protected], and we’ll make sure your coffee finds its way home. ☕📦
